d'Ingres》。的创作灵感来源于美国女歌手艾莉雅不幸坠机亡故的悲剧，以及美国纽约2001年9·11恐怖袭击等重大事件。当艾莉雅与世长辞后，艾丽西亚·凯斯便了然于胸，不折不扣地明白了什么重于泰山、什么无关紧要，并萌生创作念头。艾丽西亚·凯斯创作该歌曲的目的是为奉告听者，物质生活并不能满足内心的灵魂。
